MADONNA DEBUT

MADONNA

July 27, 1983
Sire / Warner Bros.

Madonna – the runaway dance/R&B sensation of the season.
Her blistering new album featuring the hits:
‘Burning Up’
‘Everybody’
‘Holiday’
and the new single: ‘Borderline’

Madonna’s debut album MADONNA (1983), originally planned to be titled Lucky Star, blended club-ready dance and pop with the help of producers Reggie Lucas, John “Jellybean” Benitez, and Mark Kamins. The album featured polished mixing that gave it a bright, synth-driven sound perfect for radio and clubs. It produced hits like “Holiday” (her first international success), “Borderline” (her first U.S. Top 10), and “Lucky Star” (Top 5 in the U.S.), with Madonna co-writing several tracks including “Lucky Star” and “Everybody.”
