Madonna performed live at the legendary G-A-Y club 20 years ago today!
Looking back, that day at G-A-Y still feels unreal. I arrived early in the cold morning and queued with my friends until we finally picked up our wristbands at noon. After a quick rest at the hotel, we returned to the club and somehow landed the perfect spot right at the front of the stage.
Around 1:30am Madonna burst out in hot pink to “Hung Up,” and the entire place erupted. I was so close I could see every detail. She was playful, wild, and funnier than I’d ever seen her—teasing the crowd, joking nonstop, and giving even more energy than at KOKO. “Let It Will Be” was incredible, and the surprise bit of “Jump” sent everyone flying.
