In 1985, The “Madonna” Line was launched under license by EMMC and produced by Wazoo Fashions. It was featured in the November 1985 issue of Bop magazine, which devoted several pages to the new collection. According to the article, Bop’s editors, photographers, and the designers of the line spent an entire day photographing the outfits, which were available in major department stores at the time.

Bop described the clothes as “super special,” claiming Madonna had personally helped the designers with the look. The range included corset tops, cotton pants, skirts, jackets, jewelry and interchangeable pieces designed to let fans mix and match their own Madonna-inspired outfits. Bop also teased readers with a contest in the following issue, offering them the chance to win items from the collection. Unfortunately the “Madonna” line wasn’t available for long.

A few examples of the line still exist today, an example featured here at MadonnaUnderground, this (and the full 4-page Bop feature) has been added to the LIKE A VIRGIN page.
