At 67 years old, the Queen of Pop is still doing everything she can to remain relevant. By collaborating with fellow artists and producers who currently set the tone in the music industry, Madonna’s sound remains contemporary and popular. Her collaboration with Stuart Price—who, thanks to the album Confessions on a Dance Floor, saw his status as a producer soar twenty years ago—has once again proven successful. That album became one of the most acclaimed records in Madonna’s discography. It was therefore a smart move to continue that successful partnership.
During the making of Confessions II, Madonna and Stuart Price developed a kind of manifesto based on the dance floor as a spiritual space where people have gathered, moved, and sought connection—with one another and with themselves—for centuries.
While Feel So Free draws heavily on deep house vibes and appeals to a spiritual sensibility, Bring Your Love featuring Sabrina Carpenter was clearly created with “the next hit” in mind. Fragile deals with Madonna’s relationship with her late brother Christopher Ciccone, whom she lost in 2024. It is highly personal, but the danceable production helps the Queen of Pop process her emotions more easily.
Confessions II is a love letter to dance music and to all the places and communities that create and celebrate this music.
