- Bob Geldof and Midge Ure organised the benefit event to raise awareness and money for the poverty in Ethiopia
- Madonna performed in Philadelphia for her largest audience to date and sang three songs live ‘Holiday’, ‘Into The Groove’ and ‘Love Makes The World Go Round’ (a song of the upcoming True Blue album). She also performed with the Thompson Twins.
- This performance took place right after the publishing of a former nude modelling job in Playboy and Penthouse. Madonna responded to that by saying ‘I ain’t taking shit off today!’
- In 2004 a 10-hour compilation was released on a DVD box set
