  • Twenty years after Live Aid, Live 8 was organised by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure. This time the purpose was not to raise money for Africa but to put pressure on the G8
  • This worldwide event took place on July 2, 2005 in cities such as London, Berlin, Paris and Philadelphia. The biggest stars made their way to the Hyde Park in London, next to Madonna U2, Snoop Dogg, Mariah Carey, Robbie Williams and Elton John performed among others
  • Tickets for this event were only available through lottery or hotel packages with a golden circle ticket included
  • Before Madonna entered the stage, Bob Geldof introduced Birhan Woldu, the girl widely featured on television in 1985 on the verge of death due to starvation. She inspired Bob Geldof to organise Live Aid Birhan chose to enter the stage with Madonna, as Madonna was the only star there that she knew
  • Madonna’s set included Like a Prayer, Ray of Light and Music. Madonna made sure all 200.000 people attending the event in Hyde Park were clapping and singing along to the longest outro to ‘Music’ ever
