Madonna has revealed a series of teasers about her new project, ‘Madame X’.
The iconic singer has been drip feeding details to her fans via Instagram and Twitter — beginning with an image of a giant red cross earlier this month.

Today, Madonna posted a few more details about her mysterious new venture, which could be anything from a new musical persona (like Beyoncé’s Sasha Fierce), a new record or even a charitable organisation.

“Madame X is a secret agent travelling around the world, changing identities, fighting for freedom, bringing light to dark places,” the description on social media reads.

Which actually sounds like an announcement that Madonna is set to play the new James Bond, or even Carmen Sandiego.

The type-written post also goes on to list a few of the unknown Madame X’s professions that include cha cha instructor, nun and cabaret singer.

Fans have been trying to figure out what the new era of Madonna will deliver, and some have done a little sleuthing of their own.

It’s possible that the project’s title has been inspired by a 1966 film of the same name (based on a 1908 play) starring Lana Turner that involves political intrigue, affairs, blackmail and a “courtroom climax”

The clues have arrived just a month before Madonna is set to perform at Eurovision in Israel — an appearance that has been criticised by groups including the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel.

In an open letter to Madonna, the group urged her to reconsider performing in Tel Aviv and not to “undermine our struggle for freedom, justice and equality”.

In January, 50 British celebrities — including Roger Waters, Vivienne Westwood and Peter Gabriel — called for Eurovision to be relocated and for the BBC to reconsider broadcasting the song competition.

The group of celebs claim that Eurovision is not exempt from human rights considerations and “we cannot ignore Israel’s systematic violation of Palestinian human rights”.
