In 1983, director Franck Lazare Goldberg began filming Who Killed Michael Stewart?, a documentary on the young artist’s death after his arrest by New York City transit police. The film features an early interview with Madonna, recorded at Maripol’s Broadway loft, where she spoke about her connection to Stewart, who appeared in her Everybody video.
Goldberg spoke exclusively to MadonnaUnderground about capturing that moment and the lasting impact of Stewart’s story.
