Released on July 31, 1985 as the final single from Like a Virgin, “Dress You Up” was written by Andrea LaRusso and Peggy Stanziale and produced by Nile Rodgers. The song became a global hit, peaking at No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, No. 3 in the UK, and No. 7 in the Netherlands, also reaching the Top 10 in several other countries.
Madonna performed the song during her Virgin Tour in 1985 and brought it back for major tours like Sticky & Sweet and Rebel Heart. It was also nominated for Favorite Pop/Rock Single at the 1986 American Music Awards
