June 1987: Madonna Releases WHO’S THAT GIRL

By the summer of 1987, Madonna was on top of the world. Her third album, True Blue, was a worldwide smash, clocked as the #1 selling album of 1986 around the globe, and the best-selling LP by a female artist over the entire ’80s decade.

Ready to kick her film career into high gear, Madge was set to star big-budget feature, Who’s That Girl, alongside Griffin Dunne and Haviland Morris. It only made sense that she provide the movie’s title track and theme song.
