Madonna as Mae Mordabito

One in a lifetime you get the chance to do something different

In A League of Their Own (1992), Madonna left her mark on one of the most beloved sports films of the ’90s. As “All the Way” Mae Mordabito, she brought her sharp wit, charm, and attitude to the screen, lighting up every scene she was in. Beyond her role, the movie also gave us one of Madonna’s most timeless ballads, “This Used to Be My Playground.” The song became a worldwide hit, topping the Billboard Hot 100 and earning her a Golden Globe win for Best Original Song, along with a Grammy nomination. While she wasn’t individually recognized with acting awards for the film, Madonna’s performance — both on screen and on the soundtrack — remains a standout chapter in her film career.

A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN

Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna star in this major-league comedy from the team that brought you ‘BIG’. Hanks stars as Jimmy Dugan, a washed-up ball player whose big league days are over. Hired to coach in the all American Girls Baseball League of 1943, while the male pros are at war. Dugan finds himself drawn back into the game by the heart and heroics of his “all girl” team.

Jon Lovitz adds a scene-stealing cameo as the sarcastic scout who recruits Dottie hanson (Dottie) the ‘baseball dolly’ with babe Ruth swing. Team mates Madonna, Lori Petty and Rosie O’Donnell round out the roster taking the team to the World Series.
