This year, Sunsets’ outdoor screenings are dedicated to female makers. Madonna sings ‘Into the Groove’ in Susan Seidelman’s comedy about a yuppy housewife from New York who becomes obsessed by the contact ads in the paper.
Businessman’s wife Roberta Glass (Rosanna Arquette) is bored. She reads the contact ads in the paper to kill time. A man proves to be frantically searching for someone named Susan (Madonna, before her major breakthrough). Every ad starts with ‘Desperately Seeking Susan‘. Roberta decides to meet the man, resulting in comedic misunderstandings.
