When Cher released her cover of ABBA’s “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)” on Thursday (Aug. 9), it was only a matter of time before someone mashed it up with Madonna’s 2005 hit “Hung Up,” which samples the Swedish group’s classic.

Turns out, it took less than 24 hours: Toronto-based singer Alex Simpson took the liberty of creating a club-ready diva showdown, where the living legends interpolate over an euphoric soundscape.

“Gimme! Gimme! Gimee!” is the first release from Cher’s forthcoming ABBA covers album, due Sept. 28. Cher, who appears in the Mamma Mia! sequel, detailed her love for the Swedish pop group.

Here We Go Again, I was reminded again of what great and timeless songs they wrote and started thinking, ‘Why not do an album of their music?'” she continued. “The songs were harder to sing than I imagined but I’m so happy with how the music came out.
