As I sat down to write this week’s column, I turned on a little music for inspiration.
My three favorite Madonna songs, “La Isla Bonita,” “Express Yourself,” and “Open Your Heart,” did just fine.
I’ve always been a fan of the Material Girl’s music and movies, so I’m very excited to share with you news of a brand new spring fundraiser being planned in Bay City by the Do-Care Family Enrichment Center.
The nonprofit’s “Material World Fundraiser” takes place Saturday, May 31, and celebrates all things Madonna.
The fun is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with a scavenger hunt around the city of Madonna’s birth. Teams of up to four people will take to the streets with their smartphones in search of people, places and things associated with the legendary singer.
At 1 p.m., Madonna fans can hop on the Bay Metro trolley for a tour of more than a dozen Madonna-related sites. As they go, they’ll learn all about Madonna’s personal Bay City history.
