Madonna turned New York City’s Times Square into a vibrant club to preview Confessions II to kick off Pride Month in partnership with Grindr.
The Queen of Pop, 67, took the stage on Thursday, June 4 in a glamorous pink corset paired with coordinating thigh-high stockings and silver lace-up boots to sing fan-favorite hits from her original 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor and to preview some new songs from its forthcoming follow-up.
“Hi, gays!” Madonna said, addressing the audience. Later in the show, rainbow lights flashed as photos of LGBTQIA+ trailblazers were shown on screens flanking the stage, including Marsha P. Johnson, a transgender activist known for her pivotal role in the Stonewall uprising, artist Keith Haring, and photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, whose work notably inspired Madonna’s book Sex, which featured a series of erotic photographs taken by Steven Meisel Studio and Fabien Baron.
