In this 30th anniversary screening, the festival looks back at the documentary that found Madonna staring down superstardom and that helped set the stage for the legion of winking, behind-the-scenes celebrity docs that arrived in its wake. The revealing film offers a no-holds-barred look at the Michigan Girl’s life, taking viewers behind the scenes at her “Blond Ambition” tour. From the dressing room to the bedroom, the outrageous and always entertaining singer exposes her every secret — from her waning relationship with actor Warren Beatty to her friendship with Sandra Bernhard and her crush on future “Evita” co-star Antonio Banderas. The original Free Press review in 1991 declared that the “real dare in this clever, self-knowing, exasperating documentary is its way of making you hunt for the truth under the poses.”

5:30 p.m. Fri., Sept. 24, Emagine Birmingham 8.
