10 Things To Expect From Madonna’s Next Album

madonna-new-album-600x450

When Madonna releases a new album, it isn’t so much an event as it is an international holiday.

Her Madgesty is now on her 13th studio album. 2012′s MDNA gave us just a little bit of the life we needed for the icon’s 12th release, but of course we wanted more. It’s only natural, given this is a woman who has consistently reinvented herself for three decades straight.

Now it’s 2014, which feels like the perfect time for her to drop off a new project and deliver that breed of cross-genre pop that only she can provide.

Details on the album thus far have been hit or miss: While other websites have speculated by way of Instagram posts and other random clues, Idolator played detective and dug up even more info on the album. Of course, nothing is conclusive since this is Madge, but we do have enough information to at the very least be excited for the project.

So without further ado, let’s see what we have in store from the Queen Of Pop herself.

10. The Album Is Already Done…Or Nah?

Back in April, fashion photogs Mert & Marcus put a pic up of Madonna on Instagram, rolling her tongue and looking like a sexy Greek goddess with leaves behind her ears. The caption read: “In my room listening to the NEW ALBUM!!!!! Im DYING!!!!!! LET ME LOVE YOU FROM INSIDE OUT ????????” However, going back into the photo now — the caption has been deleted! What gives?! Are we led to believe that the album isn’t done after all? Or maybe Madge switched up some tracks since then? Probably a combination of both. This is Madonna, and she does whatever the f#@$ she wants. (Imagine the text she sent to Mert & Marcus getting them to delete that photo?)

Beverly Hills, California – (August 19,  2014) – Julien’s Auctions, the world’s premier entertainment and music memorabilia auction house, has announced the rare opportunity to bid on the largest collection of Madonna memorabilia from her personal and professional life ever to be offered at auction.  The carefully curated collection will be offered during the Icons & Idols: Rock ‘n Roll auction in Beverly Hills in November.

madonna-material-girl-dressmadonna-evita-worn-gownThe legendary musical icon will be celebrated throughout the vast collection which includes the famous Marilyn Monroe inspired dress, stole and jewelry worn in her “Material Girl” video (dress and stole estimate: $20,000-40,000) and over thirty of Madonna’s period clothing pieces from Evita along with accessories and jewelry from the film (Various estimates: $800-6,000).  In addition, costumes from A League of Their Own (Estimate: $3,000-5,000), The Next Best Thing (Estimate: $3,000-5,000), her “Music” music video (Estimates ranging from $2,000–$6,000), and the video for “American Pie” ($1,000-5,000) will also be included and on the auction block.

Madonna is known for her constant reinvention as a performer. Never one to shy away from controversy or taking risks, her biggest hits include “Papa Don’t Preach,” “Like a Prayer,” “Material Girl” and “Vogue” among others. Her rise to stardom, versatility as a film and music star and her personal life stories remain legendary.  She has been listed as one of the wealthiest female musicians of our time having sold over an unprecedented 300 million records.

Her long list of awards includes GRAMMY Awards, American Music Awards, MTV Video Awards, Billboard Awards, VH-1 Fashion Awards, a Hollywood Walk of Fame and so many more.  Some of the many awards she has won will be offered for sale during this auction event.  Madonna also has never been shy about her sexual side.  Available at auction will be the latex mask, waspie, gloves, bra and panties worn with Katy Perry for a 2014 V Magazine cover photo shoot (Estimate: $1,000-4,000) and the vintage costume pieces worn for Madonna’s sexy Re-Invention publicity materials.  As early as 1985 Madonna was honing her sexy persona when she posed for Bill Stone who published the nude photographs he took in Penthouse magazine.  Negatives and prints from that sitting will also be offered.

At the start of Madonna’s professional career, she worked with photographer Edo Bertoglio to create a photo for the cover of her first album, Madonna (originally slated to be titled Lucky Star).  Several of the original photographs remained with Madonna’s friend Martin Burgoyne and will be offered for sale (Estimate: $1,000-2,000).  Other early career items include handwritten notes on concert choreography (Estimate: $800-1,200), handwritten working lyrics (Estimate: $800-1,200), Madonna’s personal AFTRA card (Estimate: $800-1,200), signed film contracts (Estimate: $800-1,200) and signed clothing items (Estimate: $600-800).  Included in the collection are a selection of foreign and domestic record sales awards, a Billboard Music Video Award (Estimate: $1,000-2,000), a 1991 American Music Award (Estimate: $4,000-6,000), an MTV video Music award (Estimate: $4,000-6,000), and an MTV European Music Award (Estimate: $4,000-6,000).

Madonna’s fans and detractors have been as interested in Madonna’s personal life as they have in her professional career.  This collection will indeed offer an intimate glimpse into Madonna’s private world.  Most revealing is a day planner/diary from 1988.  The diary includes Madonna’s handwritten notes on nearly every page with appointments:  appearing on Late Night With David Letterman, dates with then- husband Sean Penn as well as birthday reminders and holiday plans (Estimate: $2,000-4,000).  Among the other items are a signed document relating to her separation from Sean Penn (Estimate: $1,000-2,000), financial document (Estimate: $800-1,200), signed checks (Estimate: $600-800), her personal make-up compact (Estimate: $1,000-2,000) and the 1972 Junior High School yearbook she was photographed in as a teenager (Estimate: $800-1,200).

Icons & Idols: Rock ‘n Roll at Julien’s Auctions will explore and celebrate the life and career of Madonna through property and personal items that have defined her stunning incarnations: sex symbol, diva, writer, actress, mother and wife.

A special exhibit of the Collection of Madonna Memorabilia will open at the Newbridge Silverware’s Museum of Style Icons (MOSI) on Monday, August 18, 2014 and run through Monday, September 15, 2014 in Kildare, Ireland.  Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Sundays and bank holidays. Taking a step
into Madonna’s
material world

Julia+MielcarekMadonna’s hot pink ‘Material Girl’ gown and other treasured possessions from the Queen of Pop’s personal and professional wardrobe are predicted to drawn big crowds to Newbridge’s Museum of Style.

The Museum launched travelling exhibition ‘Madonna Memorabilia’ yesterday. “It is the largest private collection of Madonna’s clothes in the world,” Newbridge spokeswoman Marie Brennan explained. “All the pieces are exceptional but the sweeping gown is the real showstopper.”

Madonna donned the iconic dress in the 1984 music video ‘Material Girl’, which was inspired by Hollywood film ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’ starring Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell.

The dress, complete with white fur stole and costume jewellery, is estimated to be worth up to $30,000 (€22,000).

Madonna is known for reinventing herself and is considered something of a style chameleon. The exhibition, which runs until September 15, will feature pieces from different phases of her career.

The Versace hat and coat she wore in the video for ‘Music’ in 2000 will stand alongside the distressed denim jeans and vest top combo she favoured while plugging single ‘American Pie’.

The exhibition also features Madonna’s diary from 1988 which includes notes about an appearance on Late Night With Letterman, dates with her former husband Sean Penn and birthday reminders.

“All items go up for auction in November so it’s the last chance to see them,” said Ms Brennan ahead of Julien’s Auctions’ ‘Icons & Idols: Rock ‘n’ Roll’ auction in the US.

Madonna’s Best Fashion Transformations On and Off the Stage

madonna-mtv-awards_195002746126.jpg_gallery_max

There are few people on earth who can reinvent themselves time and time again as masterfully as pop icon Madonna. The multifaceted entertainer celebrates her 56th birthday today, and has decades of transformative style under her belt to show for it. She pioneered the underwear-as-outerwear trend, causing a stir with risqué costumes by Jean Paul Gaultier. And as the artistic side of Madonna evolved, so did her beauty regime—the frizzy eighties hair went out the door with prom dresses and fingerless lace gloves. In fact the nineties saw a sleeker Madonna emerge overall, starting with glamorous looks from Gucci by Tom Ford, right through to a penchant for traditional Indian saris, and, ultimately, Kabbalah colors. After crossing the pond for her then beau Guy Ritchie, her style went the route of Saville Row, with local borrowed-from-the-boys tweeds (and a transatlantic accent to boot.) She returned to her rebel-rousing roots for a brief moment at the 2013 punk-themed Met Gala, going pantless on the red carpet in Givenchy. And it seemed that a modern-day Marlene Dietrich was in her mind’s eye when she stepped out at the Grammy Awards in a Ralph Lauren suit later that year. Clearly this material girl isn’t about to slow down anytime soon.
