Despite the extra security, things moved very fast at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp and gladly people made it inside safely. Despite previous reports by Sportpaleis people were allowed to bring in small handbags but they were obviously thoroughly searched. The Sportpaleis was packed!! So much for the everlasting negative Belgian press stating that Madonna can’t sell out venues anymore. It was the most crowded floor I have seen so far with barely any space to walk around.
DJ Lunice started his set and to be fair, was this really a DJ set or was he simply producing noise? To everyone’s surprise Madonna started fairly on time at 21.45. The crowd was really into the show and the true highlights were True Blue and La Vie En Rose. Although we did spot some people at the sounddesk of the press struggling to keep their eyes open. Madonna was her most chattiest yet, cracking jokes and extending every little talk throughout the show. She included a bit of Diamonds are a girls’ best friend as well. To our surprise Isaac Sinwani (from the COADF song ‘Isaac’ as well as the performance during the Confessions Tour) was one of the special guests sitting at the sounddesk and thoroughly enjoying the show. We were shocked though that he wasn’t the Unapologetic Bitch that evening! Madonna performed the 80’s medley, Who’s That Girl and Don’t Tell Me. During interlude S.E.X. a part of the set wasn’t coming up.
From all the three shows that we experienced in Belgium, this one had by far the best reception by the crowd but we won’t be surprised if the press still finds a way to bring the show into a negative light.

We have received some messages with concerns from fans regarding the Madonna.com/ICON update regarding the show in Mannheim (later start date). The only reason the show is starting later than planned is simply because Madonna is doing two shows in two different countries in two days. They need all the time in the world to get things set on time for the show in Mannheim. This does not mean at all that the show will be canceled or rescheduled. Keep in mind due to extra security that queuing can take up to one hour (or more). Get there in time!
This announcement is intended to reach Iconers who are attending the 29 November Rebel Heart Tour concert in Mannheim at SAP Arena. If you are not attending this show but know of friends who are, we appreciate your help in sharing this important update.
Please be aware that, due to the production challenges of moving Madonna’s Rebel Heart tour from Saturday night’s performance in Antwerp to the concert in Mannheim, the Rebel Heart tour will have a delayed start time on Sunday, 29 November at SAP Arena. The rescheduled show time will now be as follows:
- Doors, previously scheduled to open at 6:30 pm will now open at 7:30 pmincluding all boxes and lounges.
- Special Guest Lunice will appear at 9:15 with Madonna’s performance scheduled for approximately 10:15 pm.
While the show will be loaded in as quickly as possible, we apologize for any inconvenience.
The Icon Team
Day 2 was a lot more relaxed for me.
Met up at noon with Tanja and had some lovely breakfast. Then shopped and chilled a lot. Tanja won the ICON contest and brought me as her guest, so early entry again for both of us.
We went to the arena around 16.00, we joined the queue all the way in the back as we didn’t have a number. At one point every woman was taken out of the queue and put in another much smaller queue, this because they couldn’t be searched by men. I was picked at one point as well as security told me to get inside at once.
Once inside at the table to register, we got a new high number. The organisation was really very good.
Around 17.45 someone checked the entire queue to see if everyone was still standing in the correct place regarding their number. I truly hope this is how they will handle the Amsterdam queue.
As we weren’t in a rush we joined some friends that arrived even later. The EE doors opened at 18:50 and walked in quietly on our way to the sounddesk. Time to get something to drink and something warm. The special Madonna drinking cups were also available during this second show in Barcelona. I have the entire set now.
So good hanging out with so many Madonna friends from within and outside of Europe. The support act didn’t start until 20.30, again Lunice the same as the first day. This made us thinking that M would start really late as the support act was 30 minutes later than yesterday.
But it was showtime at 22:14!!
Another fantastic show, her vocals were outstanding. Great interaction with the crowd, the 80’s medley was there again. Like a Prayer was our surprise song, what a lovely version this is. I went nuts dancing and singing along. During Music she included a bit of Spanish Lesson “Yo te quiero, means I love you”…Thank you Madonna, I love you too.
The Unapologetic Bitch was a bit weird, I think this was because he didn’t understand one word of English. Anyhow the Unapologetic Bitch was there way too fast as it meant that the show was almost over. The show’s running time was a mere two hours and fifteen minutes. What a party! I danced, screamed and sang.
Next stop: Antwerp

The floor was a lot less crowded than the first night in Barcelona, Madonna chose to perform the 80’s medley again (well yeah, this is Spain) Who’s That Girl and Like a Prayer this time. Enjoy the video

‘Rebel Heart Tour’
As talks with the ‘princess of pop’ reach the advanced pricing stage, the ‘queen of pop’ may also include Tel Aviv in her world tour this summer.
The battle between Israeli producers over a possible Britney Spears concert in Tel Aviv is heating up, boosting the chances that the eternal “princess of pop” will indeed arrive in Israel next summer.
But Britney may not be alone. The “queen of pop,” Madonna, is also in initial talks with several producers in the Israeli market.
…..’As for Madonna, her world tour is already an established fact after starting off in Montreal on September 9. Her previous tour, MDNA, kicked off in Israel on May 2012 and recorded unusual commercial success, grossing $305 million from 88 shows.
Last March, Madonna released the album “Rebel Heart,” which wasn’t one of her most successful ones, but as far as concerts are concerned she has no problem, especially outside the United States.
For the first time in over 20 years, Madonna will return to Australia for six concerts in March, after two shows in New Zealand. Israel has been offered a number of possible dates in the summer, and several producers have already began holding talks with the singer’s representatives. Some of them have also attended her concerts in order to review the setlist.
Madonna, who is a shrewd businesswoman, knows how important this tour is and is therefore seeking to channel it to as many destinations as possible. Her 10-year $120 million contract with entertainment company Live Nation is about to end next year, and the numbers of the current tour will determine the next contracts.

Monday in the evening we went to check on the things going on at the arena, quite a few people had gathered there already. Someone was there with a list which you could put your name on. You had to be present to be counted at 20.00 en 06.00, you could register up to four people, but one had to spent the night. This list was approved by someone from Live Nation.
November 24, day of the show.
We arrived early in the morning at 5:30, some tents had been set up and it was extremely cold. We put our names on the list and the counting started at 6. Everyone that was there at that point received a wristband. The long wait started. My Spanish is quite ok but when it comes to things like this I want to be certain of the situation. Thankfully Daniel was present, a super friendly fan who translated everything throughout the day. With every update he came by.
As it was still very dark and very cold we took a taxi to town to eat some breakfast. We got back at 7.30. Thankfully by this time the sun came up and the temperature changed for the better. Eventually we ended up bathing in the sun the entire day.
It was a very strange encounter that no one was lining up in a queue, this because the people had a wristband with their name on it. We saw from a distance how the VIP books were put in the bags. The crew was enjoying the sun as well.
A queue had to be formed by 3, advised by Live Nation. Was great to see how well the fans worked together with them. At one point it seemed that the wristband system would fail, but everyone was asked to get in line by number.
At 3 the security started the body check and your ticket was scanned. By number we could enter the terrain to register, get the VIP book and the Early Entry wristband. That wristband was given the same number as your ‘queue’ number. After that everyone had to form the queue again by number. We couldn’t leave the area anymore, not for a bathroom break either. The EE would be opened at 18.00.
To everyone’s surprise the doors opened at 17.30 for the long awaited bathroom break in Palau St. Jordi. Madonna was soundchecking at that moment. A few fans took their chances and saw a bit of the soundcheck happening.
Suddenly a lady from Live Nation came by announcing that Madonna wasn’t pleased with them witnessing the soundcheck and that she wouldn’t perform if more people came to watch.
We were let in at 18.30, we found a good front row spot at the catwalk near the heart stage. I decided to get something to drink for everyone and found out they had Rebel Heart drink cups, a very nice surprise and most definitely a collector’s item.
At 20:00 sharp DJ Lunice started his set, this was the first time he was the support act.
Showtime at 22:15!!
She was like a whirlwind going through the Palau St Jordi, her vocals were great and she was in an excellent mood. Interacted with the crowd a lot. The audience reacted very enthusiastic to it all and the latin section was a highlight for them. Don’t Tell Me was the surprise song of the night. During the 80’s medley Nicki Richards spotted us and happily waved.
It was one giant party!! Afterwards there was a ton of police outside up until the Placa España, this due to the extra security because of the Paris attacks.
Show 2 tonight, which will be quite more relaxed, first heading into town and then on the arena.
Barcelona has some nice goodies available, such as various Rebel Heart drinking cups, a nice addition to the Rebel Heart Tour merchandise.
Madonna was in a very good mood, but unfortunately a lot of attendees kept smoking and walked around a lot making it not easy to enjoy the show for various fans bothered by it.
There was very tight security and every one was fully checked by security guards. Keep in mind that due to the extra security, the queue takes much longer for people to get inside.
It took people who arrived around 20.00 over an hour to get inside and the queue only grew, so waiting can last up to over two hours. Keep this in mind if you want to attend the show on time!
It really wasn’t a surprise that Jon Kortajarena was tonight’s Unapologetic Bitch, he shared an apple with M.
