In Canada, MADONNA: REBEL HEART TOUR will premiere on Dec. 9 on The Movie Network and stream on CraveTV.
MADONNA: REBEL HEART TOUR was shot around the world and features a collection of live and behind these scenes footage culminating in performances at the Sydney Olympic Park in March of this year. The film is co-directed by Danny B. Tull and Nathan Rissman, both of whom have worked extensively with Madonna on her feature films and tour movies. Madonna will be honored later this year as Billboard magazine’s 2016 Woman of the Year award, at a star-studded event held in conjunction with the publication of Billboard’s Women in Music list, which identifies the 50 most powerful female executives in the industry each year.
Madonna is one of the biggest LGBT icons ever. Her work with LGBT rights in the 1980s and 1990s, when most people in the United States were very hostile towards the LGBT community, has been talked about several times in the past couple of years. The popular LGBT site Towleroad listed 26 moments that make Madonna the most pro-gay pop ally of all time.
“What I think to be a big problem in the United States and that’s homophobia – there’s a big section in Truth or Dare devoted to that….These things exist in life. I’m only presenting life to people. I’m not presenting anything that probably they’re not exposed to in everyday life but maybe they don’t want to deal with it. You know, if you keep putting something in somebody’s face eventually maybe they can come to terms with it,” the site quotes Madonna as saying in a 1991 interview promoting her documentary Truth or Dare.
It turns out Madonna was right. Many have pointed out that the mainstreaming of gay acceptance began with the fact that Madonna gave the LGBT community so much exposure at a time during the AIDS crisis and the power of the religious right. She was the first artist to ever include a gay kiss in her work and the first pop star to openly embrace her gay audience, despite the fact that doing so was considered career suicide by most in the industry.
Madonna isn’t as vocal about LGBT rights as she used to be, most likely because the LGBT community has rights. But she is still an ally, and she proved it by spending Thanksgiving at an LGBT homeless shelter.

Warren Beatty Looks Back at Dating ‘Phenomenon’ Madonna and Why He Didn’t Want to Be in Truth or Dare
“She’s a huge personality, diligent and disciplined and a spectacular dancer and performer,” he says in this week’s issue of PEOPLE. “She’s a phenomenon.”
The pair first connected during filming for Beatty’s 1991 comic-book movie, Dick Tracy, in which Madonna was cast as the sultry lounge singer Breathless Mahoney. “She was perfect for that part,” says Beatty, whose latest film, Rules Don’t Apply, hits theaters Nov. 23.
The relationship didn’t last much beyond the premiere of Dick Tracy, and their conflicting views on life in the public eye were evident in her Truth or Daredocumentary — a project Beatty, 79, did not want to be a part of at first.
For more on Beatty and to see his life in pictures, pick up the latest issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands now.
“When we were going [out] and she was making the documentary Truth or Dare, I said, ‘I don’t want to be in it.’ And she said, ‘Why would I want you in it?’” Beatty recalls. But the actor eventually conceded: “I said if I can have approval, I don’t want to inhibit you.”
In one scene in the documentary, Madonna declines to have a doctor examine her off-camera and Beatty comments that “she doesn’t want to live off-camera, much less talk.” Now, he says he found her decision to include the moment touching.
“I thought that was a kind gesture on her part because that captured how I felt,” he says. “I was kind of touched by that because I felt that I said the right thing.”

Madonna has recorded Carpool Karaoke with James Corden in New York City for The Late Late Show, no information at this time on an air date or the song(s) they chose to sing
“Bitch, I’m riding shotgun!”
Madonna on Wednesday revealed that she’ll soon join James Corden for a round of Carpool Karaoke, Instagramming a photo of herself with the Late Late Show host in New York City. (That’s right, folks. They’re braving Manhattan traffic this time.)
An airdate for Madonna’s appearance has yet to be announced, though it’s fair to assume she’ll pop up early next month to promote her upcoming concert special, which premieres Friday, Dec. 3 at 9/8c on Showtime.

NEW YORK, NY – NOVEMBER 12: Music recording artist Madonna the UFC 205 event at Madison Square Garden on November 12, 2016 in New York City
American songstress Madonna has together with her ex-husband Sean Penn organised an event aiming at raising funds to be pumped towards the pop star’s charity programmes in Malawi.
The occasion dubbed “Raising Malawi Gig” is scheduled for Faena Forum at Miami Beach, Florida in the United States of America on 2nd December this year. In an act of solidarity, a number of Hollywood superstars will be part of the fundraising night.
Comedian Chris Rock and singer Arianna Grande are among the artists to light up the Raise Malawi Gig. The event with an appetising menu that includes music, art, and other perfomances will be hosted by James Corden.
According to information sourced by this publication, all proceeds from the event will go towards Raising Malawi, a non-profit organisation founded by Madonna in 2006.
The singer in collaboration with her Charity
partners, plans to build what will be Malawi’s first Pediatric Surgery and Intensive Care Unit. The new facility will be named after Mercy James, a Malawian girl child who was adopted by the pop star in 2009.
This will benefit Malawi’s health sector as it will double the number of life-saving surgeries performed on children every year. It will also provide intensive care after critical surgeries and train specialised Malawi medical staff.
Madonna is a foster parent to two Malawian children, a boy and a girl having adopted them from orphanages. She first adopted David Banda in Mchinji in 2006 and returned three years later to adopt Mercy James in Thondwe, Zomba.
She promised to keep the children in touch with their cultural heritage, by taking them home frequently as one of the conditions for adoption.
