Madonna, Rihanna and Taylor Swift feature on list of America’s richest self-made entrepreneurs

The likes of MadonnaRihanna and Taylor Swift have all been included on Forbes‘ annual list of America’s richest self-made entrepreneurs.

Rihanna secured 33rd spot, making the list for the first time with a staggering net worth of $600 million.

According to the publication, her cosmetics line Fenty Beauty had over $600 million in sales in 2019, while her Savage x Fenty lingerie line secured $50 million from investors. Additionally, her charitable Clara Lionel Foundation raised $22.5 million for COVID-19 relief.

Madonna came in 40th place with a net worth of $550million, while Swift secured the 62nd spot with $365 million.

Other high profile musicians on the list included Celine Dion ($455 million), Beyoncé ($420 million), Barbra Streisand ($400 million), Jennifer Lopez ($150 million) and Lady Gaga ($150 million).

Madonna’s inclusion on the list comes after she confirmed her vote for Joe Biden in the US presidential election.

Sharing three selfies, she wrote: “The 3 faces of a girl who just Voted!! Get out there and take responsibility people!! #bidenharris2020.”

Madonna recently revealed that she is set to direct and co-write her own upcoming biopic.

Universal Pictures will be developing the forthcoming biopic, with Diablo Cody – who won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 2007 for Juno – set to write it alongside Madonna.

The subject of drug taking comes up, and Madonna tells Cody: “I never took anything. I didn’t drink or take drugs.” Madonna also sings out a bit, and it’s lovely.

Madonna mural quickly pops up in downtown Bay City

BAY CITY, MI – In less than 24 hours, a mural of Madonna was approved and completed on the City Market wall along Adams Street.

The muralist, Jules Muck, also known as Muck Rock, was in Flint painting a mural for the Flint Public Art Project when she said she learned that Madonna’s hometown was Bay City.

Muck completed the wall-sized Madonna mural within three hours. She said it was her sixth or seventh mural she completed in a matter of days in Michigan.

“I paint Madonna a lot. I like to paint her, she’s a great character, and it was fun to do the 80′s Madonna,” Muck said. “I just thought it would be good for her to be younger since she was a youngster there.”

The plan for the mural was birthed after the director of the Flint Public Art Project, Joe Schipani, reached out to Saginaw City Councilwoman Jamie Forbes to share that Muck was in Saginaw painting another mural at White’s Bar after completing her work in Flint.

Schipani relayed that Muck wanted to paint Madonna in Bay City, so Forbes reached out to a few people and within an hour the location was picked and approved.

“To me, it’s just an illustration of how many folks in this region are connected and how those relationships can result in some really neat things,” Forbes said.

Madonna was born Madonna Louise Ciccone on Aug. 16, 1958 at the former Mercy Hospital, 100 15th St., where the Bradley House now stands, per MLive-Bay City Times records. Her grandparents’ home on the city’s West Side was near a now-closed petroleum plant.

City Market General Manager Margie Brown said it was amazing to watch how fast Muck worked and is excited it’s a part of the market.

“From an artistic standpoint, I think it’s wonderful to have something from this woman’s caliber on our building,” Brown said. “It’s definitely something that people will come to see if they hear about it and it could also help bring people in the door that have maybe never set foot in here before.”

Muck was born overseas but is now based out of California and is currently on a tour throughout the country.

Muck said she was thrilled to paint in Bay City where it’s not over saturated with murals as people really appreciate the artwork. She also said she hopes this will open the door for more mural work to come to the area.

“The people that were there were so nice and fun. Everybody was terrific,” she said. “There was a lot of support and it was just a really easy, fun mural to do. There was no nitpicking and everybody was grateful that it was happening.”

Love Spent + Masterpiece discographies online – official Dutch singles

The confusion in single releases by Universal Music started after ‘Girl Gone Wild’ and has remained a pattern ever since. 

Here in Holland ‘Love Spent’ was chosen as the album’s official third radio single, meaning it was the official single but wouldn’t be offered on digital platforms (and certainly no physical releases.) If people liked hearing the track on the radio (IF it was played at all) they needed to buy or stream the album track. 

Love Spent was played at Radio 538 Maak ‘t of Kraak ‘t (Make it or Break it) but was voted out by 61%. The track was also added to the Radio 3FM PLUG playlist. 

Then Universal Music decided to go for ‘Masterpiece’ as official fourth radio single, more so to promote the MDNA Tour at the Ziggo Dome and the Dutch release of W./E. 

Universal Music NL press promotional CD’s of all their Dutch single releases which are sent out to radio and promoters. All of the MDNA singles were given the same treatment and therefore both Love Spent and Masterpiece ended up on extremely rare promotional CD’s. Both have since been bootlegged heavily, but when you know what they look like it is easy to spot the fakes:

  • Due to limited quantities (50-250) and the fact it was only sent out to Dutch promoters and radio, IF you find a genuine copy it is most likely offered by a seller based in The Netherlands
  • The promotional CD’s were all issued in a matte slimline jewel case
  • Beware of the Matrix (detailed in the description of the CD on this page)
  • Look closely at the font used, they might look similar but the real copies are all exactly alike. If the font is slightly different from the one pictured here on our website, it is a reproduction
  • There is always a square double sided insert which is not paper thin
  • The CD’s are factory pressed on silver CD-R. Beware of cheap blue / purple / green looking CD-R’s

It took 11 years, but a trial stemming from the fatal collapse of a stage being set up for a Madonna concert in the southern French city of Marseille finally got underway on Wednesday.

Two workers died in the accident on July 16, 2009 and eight were injured, one of whom committed suicide two years later.

A total of eleven people and corporate entities have been charged with manslaughter, causing unintended injuries and several breaches of the labor law in connection with the accident.

Madonna herself has not spoken with an investigating magistrate because she said she had nothing to do with the technical details of her shows.

The singer did present her condolences to the victim’s families.

Three days before she was to perform at Marseille’s Velodrome football stadium, the stage’s roof collapsed, killing Charles Criscenzo, 52, and Charles Prow, 23.

Giuseppe di Silvestro, who was among those injured, killed himself two years after the accident.

After a 10-year investigation, two postponements and a suspension, the trial began with tribunal president Marie-Pierre Attali underscoring “the need to pay attention to the civil parties and their loved ones, who really need this trial to take place.”

She noted that additional delays, in particular owing to the coronavirus, must be avoided at all costs.

Among the 11 defendants are Live Nation France 2006, which organized the concert, the Edwin Shirley Group (ESG) which owned the stage, Tour Concept France which helped set it up, Mediaco, a company that owned a crane implicated in the accident, and Scott Seaton, a British national hired by ESG as a foreman.

He was present Wednesday, as were the head of Tour Concept France, Mathieu Anton, and Gerard Billia, head of Mediaco.

The others were represented by their lawyers.

The trial is expected to last until October 16.

Madonna refused to make an album with David Guetta because he’s a Scorpio

David Guetta shared a shocking revelation.

The “Titanium” superstar DJ and producer made an appearance in a video by YouTubers Mcfly and Carlito, where he discussed meeting Madonna, who refused to make an album with him because of his astrological sign.

“I did a remix for Madonna a long time ago [“Revolver” in 2009] and I won a Grammy for the remix [best remix of a non-classical recording]. She calls me afterwards…she tells me that she loves this remix and she suggests that I produce her next album,” he explained during a “True or False”-type anecdote guessing game.

“I arrive for lunch. We talk about everything, the music, what she wants to do with the album. Super nice. It’s just her and me. Very relaxed, very cool. We have lunch. It’s happening. very good and you wonder when we start working together,” he continued.

“She asks me for my astrological sign. I answer her Scorpio. Suddenly, she makes a face and she says to me, ‘I’m sorry, we’re not going to be able to work together. It was a pleasure to know you. Goodbye.’”

He then confirmed that the story was true during the game!

Fans think this actress might be playing Madonna in her upcoming biopic.

MDNA was Madonna’s first album with Interscope Records and released in 2012. She revealed the title of her new record during the Graham Norton show where she was to promote her film W./E. 

She reunited with William Orbit to work on the record and also collaborated with Martin Solveig. Madonna’s film career has been one hell of a mixed bag. There have been highlights (Desperately Seeking SusanDick TracyA League Of Their Own), and there have been lowlights (just about everything else). Madonna’s presence within film has always seemed bigger than it really is, if only because Madonna has always been a pop star who carried herself as a movie star. Her videos are musical set-pieces. Her different sounds are characters that she embodies and then abandons. And her star persona — imperious, horny, slightly dangerous — could be modeled on any number of classic-film femmes fatales.

In the video for her 1985 single “Material Girl,” Madonna essentially re-staged one of Marilyn Monroe’s musical sequences from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. That moment is an early sign that Madonna understood her own iconography right away. She was willing to make those connections to past screen legends explicit, to present herself as being part of the grand American sexpot continuum. When “Material Girl” reached its chart apex in the early days of 1985, Madonna had already made her way into the mutliplexes of America. (“Material Girl” peaked at #2. It’s an 8.)

A pre-fame Madonna actually made her film debut way back in 1979, when she starred in a cheap and notoriously shitty exploitation flick called A Certain Sacrifice. That movie went unreleased until 1985, when whoever owned the rights attempted to cash in on Madonna’s newfound fame. But Madonna’s first real film appearance is a quick scene in Vision Quest, one of many variations on the Rocky formula that came out in the ’80s. Vision Quest isn’t a huge movie, and Madonna’s appearance in it amounts to a one-scene cameo with no dialogue. But that one scene might still be the most famous thing about the movie.

In Vision Quest, human Labrador Matthew Modine plays Louden Swain, a high-school wrestler in Spokane. Louden spends the movie desperately trying to cut weight so that he can take on an undefeated mythic figure named Brian Shute. Along the way, he gets into an affair with an older woman, an art student who’s renting a room in his father’s house. (That woman is Linda Fiorentino, who looks like she will eat Modine alive.) Somewhere along the way, Louden wanders into a bar, and Madonna is just up there, singing for an apparently-disinterested clientele — something that seems just as implausible as Louden’s eventual victory over Shute.

Madonna’s ninth album, a dissection of the American dream in light of 9/11 and the buildup to the Iraq war, was hard to love upon its 2003 release. The title track and lead single was hampered by that rap, in which coffee enemas mingled with shoutouts to her Mini Cooper. But beneath the “money and fame don’t make you happy, guys” sloganeering, American Life offers us a tantalising glimpse at the “real”, unadorned Madonna. The gospel-tinged Nothing Fails and the guitar-led Intervention are glorious, unabashed love songs, while the bonkers Mother and Father lays her childhood trauma bare over splintering electro-pop. Her best album? Maybe.
