Get ready for the pop music world to implode!
I can exclusively reveal that Miley Cyrus’ surprise guest performer for her upcoming MTV Unplugged special is none other than Madonna!
Yes, Miley and Madonna singing together!
Sources tell me that the two were on a Hollywood soundstage yesterday rehearsing the collaboration.
No word on what exactly they’ll be performing, but does it really matter? They could read the telephone book together and the world would watch and listen.
Miley Cyrus: MTV Unplugged tapes this afternoon (I’ll be there!) and will air on the music network tomorrow night at 9 p.m.
“The performance will showcase a more intimate side of Cyrus and feature surprise guests for an unexpected re-invention of the songs that have defined her career, including several from her #1 critically acclaimed album, Bangerz,” MTV said in a press release last week. “Miley and her fans have always had an intimate and direct connection through her music, personality and no-holds-barred attitude and the Unplugged stage will serve as the perfect platform for her to show viewers what inspires and ignites her music and her passions.”
Since its debut in 1989, Unplugged has showcased Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen, Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, Adele and Florence + The Machine.
Madonna most recently teamed up with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis at the Grammys for the hip-hop duo’s performance of “Same Love.” Cyrus kicks off her 38-city Bangerz tour on Feb. 14 in Vancouver, Canada.
Cyrus actually compared herself to Madge shortly after her infamous performance with Robin Thicke (and her foam finger) at MTV’s Video Music Awards last month.
“Last night, I was talking about some Madonna performances, and I said, ‘At some point, everything becomes irrelevant.’ Like, no one even thinks about when she did ‘Like a Virgin’ at the VMAs,” the former Disney darling told the New York Times. “That just becomes a standard, where it’s just like, ‘Oh, that’s her thing.’ So, I feel like now that I did the VMAs, that just kind of became a standard for me, and then anytime I do anything else, they’re like, ‘Miley kept it tame tonight.'”

It won’t be long until Madonna will attend the opening of the Hard Candy Fitness in Toronto on February 11, she will also participate in an Addicted To Sweat dance class.
Are we excited yet?

Madonna has opened up about her unusual choice of mouth-wear at the Grammys.
The ‘Hung Up’ megastar walked the red carpet with her son David in matching Ralph Lauren suits, and wore her now-commonplace golden grills.
Speaking to E!’s Ryan Seacrest, she said: “Yeah, I’m grillin’. It pisses everybody off when I wear my grill, so that’s why I wear it. I wear it when I don’t have to eat. Actually, I’ve learned to eat with my grill in.”
8-year-old David told Seacrest: “She said she’d get me a grill for this birthday,” to which the singer responded: “We haven’t had the time, you’d have to go to the dentist and get moulds.”
David also told Seacrest that he picked out their suits and, when asked if his adoptive mother follows his lead, he quickly replied: “Yeah, very well.”
Madonna conceded: “He wanted me to dress like him, so I obeyed him.”
Madonna took to the Grammys stage with Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Mary Lambert to perform a mash-up of ‘Same Love’ and ‘Open Your Heart’. The performance also featured Queen Latifah performing a mass wedding ceremony for 34 couples.
Speaking before the duet, Madonna said: “I wouldn’t do any old song with any old artist, but I feel like history is going to be made tonight. So I want to be part of that.”

You can count on one hand the number of international pop stars who haven’t played in the region.
North music fans have been lucky enough to see everyone from The Beatles to Led Zeppelin over the years.
I can only think of maybe Elvis, Abba and, possibly, Prince who never graced local stages.
But one other act who hasn’t set foot in the Toon is, of course, Madonna.
The closest she came was on this day 30 years ago – on a Friday teatime to be exact – when she appeared on the Tube, the groundbreaking music TV show produced here in the region by Tyne Tees.
Today, the 55-year-old multimillionaire is one of the biggest names in showbusiness, an icon of the MTV age, actress, author, producer and entrepreneur.
Back in 1984, Madonna Ciccone was an unknown American singer-dancer, desperate for fame and fortune.
The video slot, which appeared on The Tube, was filmed at Manchester’s famous Hacienda club.
The young New Yorker, backed by two dancers – her brother, Christopher, and Erica Bell – strutted and mimed her way through two songs.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were joined by Madonna for a historic performance of their LGBT equality anthem Same Love at the Grammys last night (January 26).
Some 34 couples, gay and straight, were married onstage during the performance in a mass wedding ceremony officiated by Queen Latifah. “This song is not a love song for some of us, but for all of us,” Latifah told the audience at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.
After the couples had exchanged rings, Madonna took to the stage as Same Love segued into her own song Open Your Heart. She took the lead on a slowed-down version of her classic 1987 hit before trading vocals with singer Mary Lambert on a few bars of Same Love.
“I mean, I wouldn’t do any old song with any old artist,” Madonna told Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet beforehand. “But history is going to be made tonight.”

For the Grammys 2014 red carpet walk, Madonna was upstaged . . . by her little boy David! The pop legend, 55, brought her son David Banda, 8, as her date on the red carpet outside L.A.’s Staples Center. The duo opted for matching, black-and-white tuxedos by Ralph Lauren and top hats. (Nursing a recent injury, the Material Girl accessorized with a cane.) Although the “Celebration” diva is is opinionated on matters of fashion, little David was the evening’s stylist.
“Did you pick this out?” E! News’ Ryan Seacrest asked. “Yes I did!” the cutie replied.
“For this look, i followed his lead,” Madonna explained. “He dressed me tonight. I wanted to dress like him.” The seven-time Grammy winner was, however, rocking one thing David wasn’t: grills. “I’m grilling,” she said, adding that she sports the teeth accessories “when it matches my outfit. I have learned to eat with my grill!”
Chirped little David (whose siblings are Mercy James, 8, Rocco, 14, and Lourdes, 17): “She said she’s getting me a grill!”
Madonna was less direct when asked about her performance of “Same Love” with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, which will reportedly also feature Queen Latifah officiating 34 weddings live onstage during the marriage equality anthem.
“I wouldn’t do any old song with any artist but history will be made,” was all Madonna would say on the subject.
