Talent Billboard Chart Facts:
Queen of Pop Madonna has long been royalty on Billboard’s charts. The superstar was named the most successful solo artist in the 60-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, based on a special ranking to honor the chart’s anniversary last summer, and holds the record for the most top 10 hits of all time among all artists on the Hot 100 (with 38). Further, she also holds the record for the most No. 1s by an artist on any single Billboard chart (46 on the Dance Club Songs tally). Throughout her career, the Billboard Music Award-winner has claimed eight No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 (of 21 top 10s in total) and 12 No. 1s on the Hot 100. Further, she continues to hold the Billboard Boxscore record as the highest-grossing female touring artist ever, with over $1.3 billion earned from her concerts.
Since Maluma’s Billboard chart debut a little more than five years ago, he’s scored 12 No. 1s on the Latin Airplay chart, a pair of No. 1s on the Hot Latin Songs chart, and has seen both of his albums hit No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums tally. In 2018 he scored both his first top 40 effort on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, and his first top 40 single on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. In total, his catalog of songs have collected nearly 2 billion on-demand streams in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music.
“Billboard Music Awards” nominees and winners are based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring and social engagement, tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound. The awards are based on the chart period of March 23, 2018 through March 7, 2019. Since 1940, the Billboard charts have been the go-to guide for ranking the popularity of artists, songs and albums, and are the ultimate measure of success in music.
The “2019 Billboard Music Awards” is produced by dick clark productions. Mark Bracco, Barry Adelman, Kelly Clarkson and Robert Deaton are executive producers.

Rebel, rockstar, innovative, fearless and vogue are just a few words to describe the ultimate Queen of Pop, Madonna. Billboard named Madonna as the most successful solo artist in its Hot 100 chart history and the highest-grossing solo touring artist of all time. Undoubtedly, she is the most successful female artist of all time.
But with fame, success, power and solid footing as a pop icon comes love and hate. After all, the “Material Girl” singer epitomizes most of her songs, a template she had laid out even before the era of Beyonce and Taylor Swift. Listed below are the reasons why people love to hate Madonna.
1. She acts like an alpha male
Madonna’s success surpassed the “cooler than cool” status to the point where she is acting like an alpha male (or female). Madonna is persistent, controlling, hardworking and physically fit even for her age now, adjectives to describe an alpha.
But Madonna is also self-absorbed, unapologetic, assertive and powerful. When a female acts like a man, people cannot take it.
2. She displays narcissism
Madonna’s egotism is beyond her personal trait but more of a brand. She made a conscious effort to be narcissistic because she knows the world is watching her. In “ Understanding Popular Culture” written by media scholar and communications professor John Fiske, he analyzed the Madonna phenomenon in the 1980s.
“Madonna knows well the importance of the look,” Friske wrote. “This is a complex concept, for it includes how she looks (what she looks like), how she looks (how she gazes at others, the camera in particular), and how others look at her,” he further explained.
3. She is said to have minimal talent but with massive success
What do Cyndi Lauper, Janet Jackson, Cher, Kylie Minogue and even Lady Gaga have in common? Many believe that they are more talented than Madonna. But how did Madonna earn the title Queen of Pop?
Madonna goes beyond music and talent and explores attitude, fashion and lifestyle. International authors labeled her as the Queen of Pop because of her socio-cultural impact, which rouses interest from sociologists, historians and social scientists. Her music and flair never go out of style. She reinvents herself and sets trends, regardless of era and timeline.
Also, the “Like A Virgin” singer sold around 335 million albums and singles, including digital tracks, worldwide in her entire career, proving she is the queen. Madonna’s achievements went above record sales and commercial success. She is an empire and a legend.
4. She reinvents herself in unusual ways
Madonna is the queen of almost everything in the pop world, but the Queen of Pop reinvents herself bysparking controversies on race and cultural appropriation, embracing female sexuality, introducing the cone bra to the world and proving older women are relevant.
5. She has lived too long to be a villain
A Reddit user attributed the people’s dislike over Madonna to the fact she has been living and staying too relevant for too long that she has become a villain. In the world of good and bad and pop culture, the protagonist either dies a hero or lives long enough like a villain.

Get ready for the Madame X era, Madonna fans. The Queen of Pop dropped a comeback single today. Mid-tempo, low-key and introspective Medellín may not be the high-energy pop blast some fans were expecting (Madge is known to drop exhilarating, bruising lead singles like Music and Hung Up), but it’s hard to imagine any of her fans not falling hard for Medellín‘s intoxicating, sultry spell. This is a gorgeous return-to-form for the highest-selling female artist in history, and it doesn’t really sound like anything she’s done before.
“Medellín” is sung in English and Spanish, and is a duet with 25-year-old husky-voiced Colombian crooner Maluma. He’s a superstar in South America. This could be his breakthrough in the U.S., and the playful, effortlessly fun and sexy “Medellín” could be a summer anthem worldwide. There’s chemistry here–it’s a duet that really works, and doesn’t feel forced.

Madonna may be currently rocketing up the charts with her Colombian influenced and Maluma assisted “Medellin” (premiering last week), she is taking a page from some of her current pop compatriots and dropping new music off of her much anticipated Madame X in a very interesting way.
On May 3rd, Madonna will drop the single “I Rise”, while a week later on May 10th we will receive “Crave” a collaboration with American rapper/singer/songwriter Swae Lee. On May 17th, “Future” will be revealed, which is another collaboration, this one with Quvao, another American singer/songwriter who is also a member of the hip/hop trap trio Migos. Finally on June 7, 2019 we get a peek at “Dark Ballet”, which will be the final track before “Madame X” is released in it’s entirety on June 14th.
Remixes for Madame X’s earlier tracks will without doubt, start pouring in just in time for the kick off of the summer beach/pool/tea dance season. Already, one particular remix for “Medellin” is getting a great deal of attention. Brazilian born, Boston based DJ/Remixer Ranny has put his patented magical touch onto “Medellin”, sprinkling it with a Latin percussion style beat, making it the perfect version of the track to kick off the season to. You can grab it here for a very limited time: https://www.listentoranny.com/music?fbclid=IwAR1wwVimNxDJp4Ebbnrm4OsXX8SYZk1QNamVFqP8-wIfdfUuKXnmK6yU2js
A possible theory circulating is that for every incarnation of Madame X, we may be getting a different musical style (and hopefully different remixes by some uber talented remixers) on each single.”Lisbon is where my record was born,” Madonna said in a statement, which also announced the album’s June 14 release date. “I found my tribe there and a magical world of incredible musicians that reinforced my belief that music across the world is truly all connected and is the soul of the universe. According to Madonna herself, Madame X is “a secret agent, the kind that travels extensively around the world. She is changing identities and bringing light to dark places”.
Let’s hope one of those “dark places” are dance floors all over the world this summer!

Madonna has saddled up and headed to the Wild Wild West for her forthcoming Medellin music video – and it looks as though she’s had a shotgun wedding. The 60-year-old popstar has dropped several teasers from the anticipated visuals for her collaboration with Latin star Maluma, and Madame X is in for a wild ride. In a photo posted on her Instagram, Madonna wears a white wedding dress with a veil, cowboy hat and leather gloves. What a look. The singer has wrapped her arms around Maluma’s neck as he snuggles into his blushing bride wearing a pretty snazzy suit with tassels galore. Madge also posted a selfie of herself wearing a black eye-patch while another teaser snap features her doing a line dance with a group of dancers in an array of interesting fancy dress costumes. Maluma sits on a nearby chair watching all the fun with a glass in-hand.
Madonna released the reggaeton-inspired single, Medellin, last week and the lyrics hint at her finding love and getting married again – hence the bridal attire. She sings: ‘If I fall in love/If you love and we stay there, no, no, Mommy, because mommy got married. We built a cartel just for love/ Venus was hovering above us I took a trip that set me free/ Forgave myself for being me.’ Medellin is certainly a new, trendier sound for Madonna and she recently explained how her collaboration with Maluma came about. Speaking last week after the single release, the singer said: ‘I met him backstage at the (MTV) Video Music Awards and he was very sweet.
‘The next day he sent me flowers and said what a great honour it was to meet me.’ Medellin is expected to be the lead single from Madonna’s next studio album, Madame X, which is inspired by her recent trips to Lisbon, Portugal. Madonna had previously teased her new album and alter-ego Madame X on Instagram.
Explaining the new musical direction, the popstar said: ‘‘I decided to call my record Madame X… a secret agent travelling around the world, changing identity, fighting for freedom, and bringing light to dark places. ‘Madame X is a dancer, a professor, a head of state, a housekeeper, an equestrian, a prisoner, a student, a mother a child, a teacher, a nun, a sinner, a saint, a whore and a spy.’

NEW YORK — Madonna and Colombian singer Maluma will bring their new collaboration to life when they perform at next month’s Billboard Music Awards.
NBC and dick clark productions announced Friday the duo will sing “Medellin” at the May 1 event in Las Vegas.
The song, released on Wednesday, is from Madonna’s 14th album “Madame X,” out June 14. She said the Latin-flavored album was inspired from living in Lisbon, Portugal, for the last few years.
Maluma has had major success on the Latin charts since releasing his sophomore album, 2015’s “Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy.” The 25-year-old singer won his first Latin Grammy last year for “F.A.M.E.” — also nominated for top Latin album at the Billboard Awards.
Other performers will include BTS, Halsey, Kelly Clarkson, Jonas Brothers, Sam Smith, Normani and Mariah Carey.
