  • To everyone’s surprise Madonna continued her Sticky & Sweet Tour in 2009, a second leg!
  • Madonna changed three songs in the setlist: Holiday/MJ tribute, Dress You Up and a dance remix to Frozen/Open your Heart replaced Heartbeat, Borderline and Hung Up
  • Madonna played the O2 in London a few days before Michael Jackson originally was set to make his comeback for his This Is It 50-dates tour. Unfortunately the legend passed away on June 25 2009, and so Madonna paid tribute to him during ‘Holiday’. A dancer dressed up as Michael imitated him on stage to an MJ medley and beautiful visuals. There were more Michael references during the show such as a glitter glove during Give it 2 Me, a quote from Man in The Mirror on the screens and Don’t Stop Till’ You Get Enough being played after the final song
  • The Tourbook featured a brand new front cover and included four extra pages of live pictures from the 2008 leg
  • In Marseille while preparing the stage for the show, it collaposed leading to injured workers and two fatalities. The show was cancelled. Madonna made sure to visit the injured workers and the family of the deceased. While performing in Italy she paid tribute to them
  • It was Madonna’s first ever time to perform in Belgium and even though ‘Frozen’ was forbidden to play due to a completely insane lawsuit at the time, she performed it anyway in true Madonna style
  • She also caused quite a stir in the media by faking fainting on stage during the MJ tribute in Holiday. What the media (and most people) didn’t realize was that the fainting was part of the fact, a reaction to ‘seeing’ Michael Jackson. Of course the press had a field day with this ‘Madonna faints on stage!’
  • Sadly the second leg of the tour hasn’t been officially released on video, nor have the three new performances
  • Sticky & Sweet Tour 08/09 became the highest grossing tour of all time
